Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to the United Kingdom. Before leaving for the visit, PM Modi made a statement in which he talked about the relations between India-UAE and India-Qatar. During his two-day visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. The enthusiasm of PM Modi’s visit is being seen very strongly among the expatriate Indians of the UAE.

The Prime Minister has left for a two-day official visit to be held on February 13 and 14. Ahead of his visit, Modi said India’s cooperation with the UAE has increased manifold in the last nine years in various fields such as trade and investment, defence and security, food and energy security and education. The PM will land there at 2:30 pm UAE time, after which he will hold bilateral talks with the UAE head of state as well as several leaders. The UAE leg of the event, Ahlan Modi 13, will begin at the Zayed Sport City Stadium in Abu Dhabi from 6 pm today.

The events to be held in honour of PM Modi include an exhibition by more than 700 cultural artists, with Indian arts being the main attraction at the event. The two leaders will also discuss ways to further deepen, expand and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. My discussions with Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on the sidelines of the Summit will focus on strengthening the multi-faceted relationship with Dubai. The Prime Minister said that he will be discussing various subjects with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for which he is very much looking forward. PM Modi will attend the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai as the guest of honour and deliver a keynote address.
Around 40 thousand Indians will be present in the stadium where the Alhan Modi program will be held. Despite the rain in the UAE, there has been no dearth of enthusiasm among Indians. The UAE has the largest population of the Indian diaspora with around 3.5 million, which is about 35 per cent of the country’s population. After today’s program, he will inaugurate the BAPS temple after meeting with global leaders on February 14 at 4:30 pm. After a two-day visit to the UAE, the Prime Minister will reach Doha, the capital of Qatar, on February 14.
Inauguration of Hindu temple
Apart from meeting the President, the main purpose of PM Modi’s visit to the UAE is also to inaugurate the first Hindu temple built in Abu Dhabi. “The BAPS temple will be an enduring dedication to the values of harmony, peace and tolerance that both India and the UAE share,” he said. This will be PM Modi’s seventh visit to the UAE since 2015 and second to Qatar since 2014. Recently, I had the privilege of hosting Nahyan in Gujarat, where he was the chief guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.
