Key Details of the Revision:

General (UR/EWS)

The qualifying percentile has been reduced to 28.308.

SC/ST/OBC (including PWD of these categories)

The new qualifying percentile is 18.308.

UR-PWD

Candidates in this category now need to achieve a minimum of 23.308 percentile to qualify.

Impacted Seats

This adjustment is in line with the Dental Council of India (DCI) recommendations and aims to address the 2,001 vacant seats in MDS programs across states like Karnataka (380 seats), Tamil Nadu (164 seats), and Rajasthan (175 seats).

The Rationale Behind the Cut-off Reduction:

The decision was driven by a significant number of vacant seats and the need to provide more opportunities for candidates who narrowly missed the initial cut-off. By lowering the threshold, students can now qualify for specializations like Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Endodontics, and Orthodontics, helping ensure that these seats are filled.

Implications for Students:

Students who took NEET MDS 2024 now have a greater opportunity to participate in the upcoming counseling sessions. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has been directed to release revised results, and the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will expedite the seat allocation process.

For more updates on the revised cut-off, students should check the official MCC website and other trusted sources.
