Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Predicted XI: Both CSK and RCB have a good pool of foreign players in their ranks. Both teams will be looking to start the season with a win.

There is only one day left for the start of the 17th season of IPL. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the first match on Friday. All the teams have prepared in earnest for the tournament. Both CSK and RCB have a good pool of foreign players in their ranks. With both teams looking to start the season on a winning note, it will be interesting to see who Dhoni and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis pick in the playing XI. Today we will tell you what can be the possible final XI of the match to be held tomorrow.

CSK’s numbers are huge. There have been a total of 31 matches played between CSK and RCB in IPL history, in which defending champions CSK have won 20 matches, while RCB have managed to win only 10 matches. The rivalry between the two teams is intense. In this way, the edge of Dhoni’s team seems to be heavier than RCB. Although in T20 cricket, the dice is turned with one ball, so in this format it is difficult to say which team can win the match.
CSK have won four of their last five matches. This can be gauged from the fact that out of the last five matches played between the two teams from 2021 to 2023, CSK has won four matches, while RCB has tasted victory in one match. In the 2021 season, two matches were played between the two teams and Dhoni’s team managed to win both the matches. After this, in 2022 also, two matches were played between CSK and RCB, out of which CSK won one match, while RCB managed to win the second match. In the last match between the two teams, CSK defeated RCB by eight runs.

CSK are very strong at home.

The MS Dhoni-led CSK will play their first game of the season at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Beating CSK at their home ground is always a challenge for any team. CSK’s speciality is that they select the team by looking at the home conditions in which the spin bowlers are kept in the playing XI. Compared to CSK, RCB doesn’t have a spinner of that level.

Will Kohli open with Faf?

With RCB boasting of a formidable batting line-up, it will be interesting to see if former skipper Virat Kohli opens with Faf du Plessis this season as well. Their opening pair was a huge hit last season and there is a strong possibility that Kohli and du Plessis will open the innings for RCB. In the middle order, the team has the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudessai, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik. Apart from this, RCB also traded Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians.

Rachin can open in place of Conway

CSK will be without the injured Devon Conway, but Dhoni’s team has young New Zealand opener Rachin Ravindra and it is expected that Rachin will open in Conway’s place. CSK will also miss the services of Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana, which means Dhoni might give a chance to Mustafizur Rahman in this match.
Here’s a look at the likely playing XIs of CSK and RCB:
